Privacy Policy

Who is responsible

PatSavvy Inc. is responsible for the personal information handled through PatSavvy. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, who receives it and the choices available to you. Contact support@patsavvy.com with the subject Privacy to reach the person responsible for privacy requests. This policy applies to our website, application, conference offers and billing flows.

Information we collect

Account information includes your email address, verified account identifier, username, optional display name, authentication state and settings. We use an authentication provider to handle sign-in and verification. We do not receive your Google password. Password credentials are handled by the authentication provider.

Research information includes queries and saved searches, patent lists, workspaces, selected patents, notes, tags, review decisions, research documents and instructions you choose to submit. We also receive feedback and support correspondence you send us. Public patent information can itself contain inventor names, assignee names and other information published in patent records.

Subscription and conference information includes your plan, trial dates, QR batch attribution, successful claims, usage counts, access grants, customer and subscription identifiers, payment status and records of agreement to applicable terms. Stripe collects the payment and billing information you enter at checkout; we receive the identifiers and status needed to provide the subscription, rather than your full card number.

Technical information includes request time, browser and device information, coarse country when supplied by our hosting infrastructure, error and performance information, and network information needed to deliver and protect the service. Abuse controls may process an IP address or a privacy-preserving identifier derived from it. We do not use a shared conference Wi-Fi address as the account's commercial search allowance.

Why we use information

We use information to authenticate you, return requested search results, save and restore your research, deliver requested AI features, administer subscriptions and conference access, answer support requests, prevent abuse, investigate faults and meet legal obligations. Account usage counters enforce the plan you selected. Conference metrics help us understand scans, signups, verified claims, meaningful use and paid conversion by batch.

We do not sell your personal information or research. We do not make your private workspaces public merely because you use a conference offer. A workspace or other material is shared only through a sharing feature you choose to use, or as otherwise described in this policy. Do not place personal or confidential information in feedback you do not want authorized support or development reviewers to see.

Service notices may include email verification, security alerts, billing messages and trial-expiry information. These are separate from optional promotional messages. We will obtain consent for promotional messages where required and provide a way to unsubscribe.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential cookies maintain sign-in and a visitor search identifier. The visitor identifier may last up to one year and lets us count the browser's free searches; clearing it can reset that browser experience. A conference-attribution cookie may last up to thirty days to carry the offer through signup. Local or session storage may remember preferences, drafts, layout and research context. These values are not a substitute for server-side account access checks.

Our first-party analytics uses a random browser cookie lasting up to 90 days across patsavvy.com and app.patsavvy.com to measure visits, grouped page journeys, registered campaigns, signup outcomes and successful searches. Only pseudonymous identifiers and fixed categories enter this dataset; it excludes research text, patent lists, workspace contents, emails, IP addresses and raw URLs. Temporary hashed mailbox tokens link email verification to a signup attempt and expire after one day. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable this collection. Operational monitoring and configured analytics may measure page use, errors and performance. Our telemetry handling is designed to remove raw research queries, patent lists and sensitive URL parameters from analytics events. Some optional monitoring depends on the deployment configuration. Browser privacy settings can restrict cookies or storage, although sign-in and saved preferences may then work differently.

Providers and disclosures

We use service providers to deliver PatSavvy. These can include Amazon Web Services for application hosting, databases, search and operational infrastructure; Supabase for authentication; Stripe for payment processing and billing; Anthropic for requested AI features; and configured Sentry, PostHog or Vercel monitoring services for errors, performance or analytics. Not every provider is enabled in every deployment. Providers receive information relevant to their function and may process it in other countries, including the United States.

When you invoke an AI feature, the selected content and relevant instructions or context are sent to the configured AI provider. AI processing is not required for ordinary patent search. Avoid submitting material that you are not permitted to disclose to that provider. Provider processing is subject to the applicable provider terms and safeguards; this policy does not promise legal privilege or that every provider has identical retention practices.

Authorized administrators can manage accounts, access grants and conference batches. Authorized feedback reviewers can review feedback. We may disclose information where legally required, to address fraud or threats, to enforce our terms, or in a business transaction subject to appropriate confidentiality and applicable privacy obligations. We do not give conference organizers a named attendee list merely because a person scanned a QR code.

Retention and security

We keep account and saved research information while it is needed to provide the service and respond to your choices. Trial expiry or cancellation does not automatically delete saved research. Usage and campaign records are retained for operating allowances, measuring the offer, resolving disputes and preventing abuse; billing and administrative records may need to be kept longer for legal and accounting reasons. Contact us for the retention information relevant to your account.

We use access controls, authenticated sessions, protected server credentials, transport security and operational safeguards appropriate to the service. No system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your login, use an appropriate password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access. Backup copies and legally required records may remain for a limited period after active data is removed.

Your choices and requests

You can update available profile settings, remove saved work, manage a subscription through the billing portal and stop using the service. Contact support@patsavvy.com to request access to or correction of personal information, an export, account closure or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity and explain any legal or practical limits before acting. Withdrawing consent may affect features that need the information, but does not remove rights required by law.

PatSavvy is intended for professional patent research and is not directed to children. Do not create an account if you cannot lawfully agree to the service terms. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us.

We will post policy updates with an effective date and explain material changes. Where a new purpose requires consent, we will ask before using personal information for that purpose. Privacy questions and complaints: support@patsavvy.com, subject Privacy. Billing questions: billing@patsavvy.com.
